Having heart full of pain and anger can affect focus, disposition in life as well as relationship with other people. One of the keys to be a better person, to have a happy life and work is to forgive. Here are some of the benefits of forgiveness:
- Prevents bitterness from setting in. There are situations in life that we cannot forget and move on easily like being back stabbed by a friend without knowing the reason or being victim of politics in the workplace. Don’t let your heart be hardened by bitterness and forgive. Knowing that you don’t hold grudges to other people can make your mind peaceful.
- Clears Focus. If you don’t forgive, your attention might divert to the things that have caused you anger or person who broke your heart. And all things including your work can be affected because your energy which is intended in performing your job is being used in carrying all your hurts and unforgiveness. So, start putting back the focus on more productive things in your life by choosing to forgive.
- Heals a broken heart and broken relationships. They said time heals but the hidden truth in healing a broken heart and stopping anger is through forgiveness. If you don’t choose to forgive, you will notice that things happened in the past that have caused you pain and anger when being told today is just like it happened yesterday because time cannot really heal a wounded heart. Your healing begins when you forgive.
As quoted by unknown resource, “The first to apologize is the bravest. The first to forgive is the strongest. And the first to forget is the happiest.” Being able to forgive is one of our strength. Shine in the midst of hurts and pains. Choose to forgive.
